ABOUT ASIA’S HOPE

Western Reserve’s decision to rescue orphans in Cambodia began with our passion to have global impact. In the summer of 2008, God began to work in our lead pastor’s heart for our church to go global. Jason met with the founder of Asia’s Hope to hear the dream and vision to minister to the overlooked and underprivileged of our world. Several days after this meeting, Jason felt the confirmation from the Lord to ask the people of Western Reserve to join together and rescue orphans in Cambodia.

On September 28, 2008, Jason preached a message about the atrocities of human trafficking, poverty, and inhumane conditions that the children in Cambodia are forced to endure. We were reminded what James 1:27 states, true and lasting religion is on that takes care of the widows and orphans. Jason stated that if we were not willing to do something, we should close our doors and give our resources to people that were taking this call seriously.

In order for the Western Reserve to be involved, we needed $12,000 in cash to rent the facility, resource the facility with needed utensils along with $2,000 per month in pledges to support the children for two years.

After Jason challenged the people of Western Reserve to give, the response was overwhelming. In 17 minutes, $62,000 in cash was given along with $3,700 pledged in monthly support. So much was given that we were able to build a permanent facility and rescue double the amount of children we initially needed.
